My Little Piece of Tir Nan Og (aka Land of the Young)

Hi, this is me...
|
Most people call me Ellen (even though my first name is actually Mary), though I do have a plethora of nicknames, the most common one here at RPI (my beloved alma mater) being Pepper. If you don't ask, I won't tell how I got that nickname... My major avocation is Scouting... I've been a Girl Scout since the age of four. I was a Scout in the BdP in Germany for a year in 1995-96 (HeGuJa Stamm Parzival!!!), earned my Gold Award (comparable to a boy's Eagle Scout) in 1997, and I currently lead a Junior troop at the Troy YMCA. I work at Camp Indian Run (a Girl Scout camp) in the summer (I love the outdoors!). This year I was the Program Specialist, in charge of Arts and Crafts, Nature, and All-Camps. It's a blast!

OK, something else will eventually come to fill this space. It used to talk about my NROTC Unit. That situation has been resolved, unfortunately not in my favor. BUMED is still adamantly against waiving the asthma that I do not have. Therefore, as of this June, 1999, I am a civilian. This has broken my heart. Now I am forced to pursue my calling of Aeronautical Engineering with a concentration in space technology in the civilian side of the house, and make twice as much money, probably defense contracting anyway. In the words of my immortal former AMOI, Gunnery Sergeant Morales, USMC, "WAH!" NROTCURPI, I miss you guys!

One small step for a man...

As I more or less stated above, I'm a junior Aeronautical Engineering Major (Class of 2001-ish), and I'm planning to eventually get a concentration in Space Technology. Yes, I want to be a rocket scientist, can the jokes.
